Attraction...Dating...Relationships ...we are all contestants in the mating game! Get ready to watch that game play out when Trumansburg's Encore Players stages their summer production of "I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change." This hilarious musical revue takes on the myths and truths that underlie our ideas about finding love in modern life. Spanning a first date to marriage, child rearing to old age, it's a show as witty, irreverent, passionate and poignant as any new romance or enduring love.

Under the dynamic guidance of director Anne Bialke and music director Alice Ploss, Encore's cast of twenty actors brings this script to life with verve and talent, skillfully flaunting their comedic and musical flair. Audiences will recognize many familiar faces, and be introduced to some new ones, too. This production marks the seventh Encore Players musical Bialke and Ploss have collaborated on since Encore's inception in 2014. When asked recently what drew the team to this particular show, Ploss replied, "we were hooked by the music, the comedy, the drama, and its poignancy. The original show was cast for 4 people, but it lends itself to expansion and flexible casting, perfect for our community theater group. We have a lot of very fine singers and it's fabulous to be able to showcase them this time around."

Describing the musicality of the piece, she continued, "The songs are not easy- there's a lot of syncopation and other technical qualities that make this score a challenge. The pit will consist of piano, bass, and woodwinds. It's a smaller, simpler sound, perfect to back up, and not overpower the singers. Balance is really important to me. I always strive to make sure the singers can be heard. That's the point, right?"

Tickets are $25 for adults and $20 for students and seniors. They pre-sale only and none will be sold at the door. Libations will be available for purchase prior to Thursday performances courtesy of Ice Cream Bar and Friday performances courtesy of Bet the Farm Winery. Prior to Saturday perfomances, Pop Up Farm Bar (sober & boozy) will be curated by Open Spaces Cider.

Note that this production contains mature content and may not be suitable for all ages.
