Intro to Stage Acting and Audition Prep- April 5, 1-3pm

Join Anne Bialke and Alice Ploss, founding members of Encore Players for a two-hour workshop on stage acting basics and preparation for auditions.  Anne and Alice are (among many other things), the director and musical director for Encore Players’ summer musicals! They have loads of experience teaching and bringing out the best in new and experienced performers.

It’s wonderful to spend time with Alice and Anne, and this workshop may be especially beneficial for anyone who has been curious about Encore Players or has perhaps been thinking about auditioning “one of these days.”

Improv - April 10, 7-9pm

Improv is more than quick thinking and comedy—it’s about collaborative storytelling, deep listening, and building something bigger together. In this two-hour interactive workshop led by Erica Marx, you'll explore how the simple yet powerful principle of "Yes, and" fuels creativity, strengthens ensemble work, and brings stories to life. Through engaging games and exercises, you’ll practice spontaneous storytelling, creative collaboration, and thinking on your feet—all in a supportive, playful environment.

Designed for all experience levels, this workshop welcomes those curious about improv as a tool for acting, creativity, or just for fun. Whether you have stage experience from community theater or are brand new to improv, you’ll walk away with new skills, greater confidence in your creative instincts, and a fresh appreciation for the magic of saying "Yes, and." No need to be funny—just bring your curiosity and a willingness to play!

Character Acting- April 26, 1-4pm

Acting is not just about delivering lines but also very much about creating believable and engaging characters. In this three-hour course, professional actor and long time Encore Player Danny Trippett will share his approach to developing a character and technique for embodying a role. Anyone who has worked with Danny knows that he delights in and excels at creating and committing to characters who live and breathe! It's always nice to have our friend Danny back, but we also sometimes miss those characters when the show is over. We’re excited for him to share his passion and expertise with the community.

“Taste of Tech”- May 1, 7-9pm

Join lighting industry professional Ford Sellers, along with Encore Players and seasoned stage tech folk Chris Westling and Chris Manly for a two-hour intro workshop all about stage sound and lighting. Without lighting and sound, our shows would be dark and silent, or at least a lot less vibrant, interesting and accessible.

This hands-on workshop is for anyone curious about stage tech, keen to get together with others who love stage tech, and perhaps especially anyone curious about involvement with the world of Encore Players “behind the scenes.”
