Dark Hearts: A Villains Cabaret

February 2020
February 14 and 15 at the Trumansburg Conservatory of Fine Arts, 5 McLallen Street. Doors open at 6 p.m., with the show starting promptly at 7:00 p.m. (running time about an hour and twenty minutes).

Encore Players is mounting an original musical cabaret to benefit the Trumansburg Conservatory of Fine Arts. Profits will be donated to assist TCFA with interior improvements to the building and the promotion of arts programs within the community.

The cabaret features local actors and singers portraying famous Broadway villains, who take the stage to share their deepest desires, untold to us in their original story lines, and sing the songs they have always wanted to sing. The result is a comedic romp into the minds and hearts of each villain, with hysterical twists and turns! Tickets are $35 and can be purchased below. Ticket price includes a variety of decadent desserts and fruit, with complimentary local wines and cheese.

This is the first cooperative production between Encore Players and TCFA, and both companies are excited to bring the event to life. “Working with TCFA Director Mark Costa has been a pleasure and a complete success,” says Daniel Trippett. He and Katie Davis have spent four months developing the show, and the pair co-direct. Partnering with TCFA seemed to them a natural and productive solution to their quest for a venue for “Dark Hearts”, and a chance to support TCFA’s mission. “Our two companies have always worked toward the same goal,” Daniel added, “to bring the arts, in this case theatre, to our thriving community, and we both have resources to make that partnership beneficial.”
