Accessibility Information

for Encore Players’ production of Inherit the Wind at the Trumansburg Conservatory of Fine Arts

The Conservatory is an historic building, so there are some accessibility limitations (to be addressed in the upcoming capital project!)

ENTRANCE: There are two options for front entrance. One with wooden ramps with railings on both sides. A flat, packed earth path leads from the parking lot to the ramp. The other has three wooden steps (with a railing) leading to a large flat porch and then two more steps to the doors. The doors are heavy and require some strength to open and hold.

SOUND and LIGHTING: The primary actors will be mic’d, and a portion of the show features a harmonica player. No strobe lights.

SEATING: Cushioned armless chairs are arranged on risers. Each riser step is roughly 6” high, and a railing runs to the top row. There is seating at ground level which can be removed to make space for wheelchairs and companion seats.

FLOORING: The inside of the building is all flat wooden floors.

TOILETS: The restrooms are located behind the mainstage, and approachable at any time during the show. Use the small staircase to the left of the stage (five steps with a railing on one side that does not continue quite to the top of the stairs). Proceed through the doorway on the back wall of the stage, up one step and straight ahead to the restroom door. The room is narrow, there are no grab bars, and the stalls are not ADA accessible for walkers, wheelchairs, or other mobility aides.

There will be an ADA accessible portable toilet on site- located outside the building on the flat ground near the rear parking lot. We recognize that an outdoor toilet is far from ideal in February.

PARKING: There are two reserved parking spaces for those with accessible hang tags. If you are being driven and would like to be dropped off at the door, our ushers and parking attendants are happy to assist and welcome you while the rest of your party parks the car. There is ample street parking available around the Conservatory as well.

* Encore Players believes that theatre should be enjoyed by everyone. Please let us know if you have feedback (or questions) on ways we can make our performances more inclusive and accessible. Thank you for your support and enjoy the show!
