The musical Oliver!, based upon the novel Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens, premiered in London's West End in 1960. After enjoying a long run on the West End, it opened in New York in 1963 and has seen many tours and revivals. Oliver! is a classic. It won a Tony award for Best Original Score in 1963, and its beautifully crafted melodies have been in our hearts and heads ever since. In addition to an award winning score, this show has everything else: colorful characters, bad guys, good guys, adorable children, a heroine, a murderer, and finally, a happy ending.
