The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance

April 28-30 2016, @ 7:30pm May 1 2016 @ 2:00pm

Encore Players Community Theatre of Trumansburg, New York proudly presents the live stage production of “The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance” by Jethro Compton. Opening Thursday April 28 and running for four performances only through Sunday, May 1st, “The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance” brings to life a story from the American West at the turn of the last century.

Journey into the Wild West of 1890 in this classic story of good versus evil, the law versus the gun, and one man versus Liberty Valance. Contemporary playwright Jethro Compton has written a compelling play that weaves the elements of love, hope, sacrifice, revenge, and social justice into a powerful evening of theatre. Based on the 1949 short story by Dorothy Johnson that was made into a major motion picture in 1962, starring John Wayne, James Stewart, and Lee Marvin, this new work invokes modern relevant themes set against the backdrop of a classic American western drama.

Mark your calendars now and plan to attend “The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance” by Jethro Compton presented by Encore Players at the Trumansburg Elementary School auditorium Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, April 28, 29, and 30 at 7:30pm and Sunday May 1 at 2:00pm.

All tickets are $12 and available online (see below) and at the door. Due to adult themes, strong language and gunshots, this production is recommended for ages 14 and older.
